Senior Systems Engineer Job Opening in Arlington, Virginia - Responsible for advising EPA management and staff on all aspects of system engineering. Provides expert advice, consultation and assistance and applies such expertise to the planning, management and evaluation of systems engineering projects. Formulates guidance, standard operating procedures and practices tailored to EPA relative to systems engineering and supporting automated tools, incorporating applicable FIPS standards and/or National Industry Standards in Technology (NIST) guidance publications. Monitors the usage of these products and makes revisions as needed. Formulates plans and proposals for informing and training the EPA in systems engineering methods, practices, techniques and tools. Serves as an active participant in selected system engineering projects. Stays abreast of new systems engineering developments and industry and government experiences with major systems engineering efforts for the purpose of evaluating methods, techniques, tools and lessons learned for application at EPA.
- Must have general experience in all stages of the system life cycle, at least eight (8) years of experience as a systems engineer, and at least three (3) of
the last five (5) years of work experience with specialization in at least one (1) of the following four (4) areas: planning and analysis, design and development, re-engineering or reverse engineering. These three (3) years must include extensive Computer-aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool experience. Must have B.A. degree or equivalent in the IT field. Must have demonstrated technical writing and presentation capabilities and skills.
