Staff Accountant Job Opening in Thornton, Colorado - Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. is a developer of thin-film photovoltaic modules with substrate materials that can be more flexible and affordable than most traditional solar panels. Position Summary: Day-to-day activity including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity and general journals; troubleshoot related issues, may participate in month-end and quarter-end close processes and develop process improvements.
Essential functions
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable entries.
Participate in payment processing for accounts payable and recording accrued expenses
Enter daily cash and general journal entries
Participate in month-end close schedule
Other duties and projects, as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or related field required
Must have 1-2 years of progressive experience.
Basic financial statement knowledge and preparation skills
Knowledge of Inventory, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable principles necessary.
Payroll principles a plus
Basic understanding of SOX requirements preferred
Ability to research technical accounting issues
Detail-oriented while ensuring accuracy, effective multi-tasking abilities, self-motivated and demonstrated sense of urgency
Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook: and working knowledge of accounting software functionality.
Effective oral and written communication skills a must
Ability to interact and work effectively with all levels in the organization to achieve positive results
Effective analytical and problem solving abilities
High ethical standards required
ADP (Pay Expert and EZ Labor) experience, a plus
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
