Position Description Summary:
Responsible for the building, maintaining, direction and management of a highly motivated and executing Customs brokerage team, and activities at station level or an assigned area. Activities include customer service, brokerage and Customs transactions.
Principal Accountabilities (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
Manage Customs Department overseeing all daily activities included but not limited to clearance and audit processes in accordance with CBP guidelines, regulation and company policy in all areas of the business unit
Develop, implement, maintain procedures and seek continuous improvements for the department
Provide guidance on Customs laws and regulations to internal, external customers and staff
Ensure accurate and timely service, including financial controls to avoid penalties
Management of Customs Services and team?s performance using KPI requirements and maintain high level results
Maintain visibility and control of operating and work flow systems for proper use, workload management, process flow and timely activities
Identify strengths and weaknesses of the department and work to improve through training and guidance
Select and place highly motivated staff, ensure staff training and define specific job assignments * Manage staff performance to ensure required levels of productivity and organizational objectives are met
Work closely with transportation teams and peer-managers to seek mutual benefiting process improvements to drive productivity and implement best practices
Assist sales department acquire new accounts * Establish strong relationship with internal and external customers
Responsible for implementing new customers and maintain high level of service performance
Research and resolve customer complaints on Customs related and operational issues
Financial responsibilities include revenue and gross profit growth, internal controls for profit margin at account level, timely billing and statement management for the department.
Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required for Position:
Bachelor?s Degree or Equivalent * Requires valid Customs brokerage license
Supervisory or management experience
Strong leadership and team management skills
Capable of managing numerous staff members
Capable of operating high volumes of transactions
Basic knowledge of accounting and relative information retrieval
Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills required
