Communications Software Engineer Job Opening in Herndon, Virginia - Are you looking for a stimulating and challenging career where your programming expertise and communication systems knowledge can be leveraged to bring new communication services and improve the service reliability of existing telecom services?
We are looking for a Communications Software Engineer that can build and enhance our communications offerings in SIP and Hosted PBX services by leveraging Open Source technology. You will be in a critical position to make significant contributions to the development and operations of new service features to fuel the company growth.
Job Responsibilities include:
Design, implement, and maintain custom modules and configure standard modules for SIP Proxies and Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
Design, implement and maintain new applications and scripts to support and enhance nexVortex communication services
Design, implement and maintain database schema for nexVortex call processing nodes that integrate with the back-office customer configuration and billing platforms
Work with the Product Managers to define nexVortex Service Architecture and internal/external functional requirements
Enhance and maintain existing code and participate in design reviews and code reviews with other team members.
Investigate operational issues in the nexVortex services platform; assess the performance of service components to keep capacity ahead of demand.
Tools and Technologies used include:
VOIP and its associated technology (SIP, RTP)
Open Source Communications Platforms (Asterisk, FreeSwitch, Kamailio)
DevOps Tools (Ansible, Jenkins, and other CI/CD tools)
Networking Switches, Routers, Firewalls, IDSs and Security Appliances
Programming experience with C, Erlang/Elixir, PHP, and Python
Relational Databases (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
Linux server operations, deployment, and performance monitoring
