Cost Accountant Job Opening in Seattle, Washington - Summary
We are looking for a Cost Accountant who is hard-working, self-motivated and shares a passion for excellence to join our sturdy-dynamic team. Primary responsibilities include developing analysis of standard to actual costs and the detail analysis of variances for cost reduction and margin enhancement. In addition, the cost accountant is responsible for the accurate reporting of company inventories, invoice prices, preparation of management reports, and journal entries to support the monthly close process.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the accuracy of standard costing, including completing time studies, validating material standard costs, and performing variable cost analysis
Monitor variable COGS performance against budgets and forecasts, including reporting deviation from standards and analysis of reasons for variances
Review product pricing setup against customer contracts to ensure accurate invoice prices and create customer pricing data lists
Develop management reporting to highlight key COGS activities and product and customer profitability
Develop and implement improved processes for accurate and timely standard costing and customer pricing
Perform cost rollups and ensure accurate inventory valuations
Assist inventory control with physical inventories, monitor cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and inventory management reporting
Assist with the year end audit, preparation of schedules, process memos, and internal control processes, to ensure they are in accordance with GAAS and GAAP for independent auditors
Prepares daily and monthly account analyses to ensure accuracy of business transactions occurring in general ledger accounts
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
Assists in monthly close accounting activities including preparation of journal entries and accruals
Qualifications
BS/BA, preferably in Accounting
2-3 years of work experience in a professional business environment, cost accounting experience preferred
Ability to work in a very fast paced environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
Excellent PC skills with strong knowledge of MS Office software (Excel and Word)
Very organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fosters trust by communicating openly and acting with integrity
Experience with Epicor, Adaptive Insights, or Tableau is a plus
Possesses an entrepreneurial nature by imagining what is possible and taking ownership of outcomes
