Accounting & Payroll Assistant Job Opening in Salt Lake City, Utah - Role and Responsibilities
MRES is the Groeneveld, Orlaco, SCAN~LINK, and other related products Distributor for Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming. This position is responsible for following established procedures while carrying out various Accounting and Payroll Assisting functions as assigned. This position is dedicated to growing the company customers, revenues, and image through accurate accounting transactions, following and promoting proper business procedures, payroll administration, and other various forms of business interactions.
Requirements and duties include, but are not limited to:
Strong computer and Excel skills with an emphasis on analysis
Proficient knowledge of Quickbooks Accounting Software
Knowledgeable in Adobe Acrobat and PowerPoint
Assist with employee benefit management, on boarding, and basic HR duties
Perform payroll, return reconciliations, timesheet entries, and other general payroll duties
Prepare account reconciliations and monthly sales tax reports for multiple state jurisdictions
Assist with various state set up and tax compliance registrations
Reconcile credit card receipts
Professionally interacts with customers, vendors, and coworkers on a daily basis
Answers phones and electronic generated requests in a professional and timely manner
Work for and with Executive Staff daily providing various reports, worksheets, and other general information
Provide various reports to the Sales Manager, Operations Manager, and CFO
Update customer data and integrate company systems for accurate, up to date information
Update, maintain, and monitor company website. Interact with website provider.
Champions social media potential including Facebook, , Google+, etc.
Assist Safety Manager with various duties; i.e. DOT spreadsheets, updating safety plans, posting compliance updates, & etc.
Update & record driver logs / spreadsheets to ensure DOT compliance
Document and track completed safety training hours.
Prepare and file MSHA reports, update information with various compliance websites.
Performs various housekeeping tasks to ensure work areas are clean and free of safety hazards
Follow all safety rules and regulations when completing job responsibilities
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
Pass Pre-employment, random, post-accident, and annual drug screens
Positively communicate in English both written and verbal
Excellent computer skills with strengths in Microsoft Office, Excel, Quickbooks,
Be energetic, maintain a professional appearance, and possess a great attitude. Team player!
Multi-task in a fast paced environment and be fit for duty each day
Minor travel as needed
Represent the value of MRES at all times
Expected Results
This position requires a proficient understanding of accounting and payroll administration. Knowledge and working experience with complex Excel spreadsheets is also required. This job will be one where the individual gains a general understanding of MRES business objectives and understands how to support those objectives through quality accounting policies and procedures. They will, through excellent personal skills, both externally and internally, support the MRES values of essential employee satisfaction and solid customer retention, while demonstrating a consistent ability to work well in a team environment.
