Controller Job Opening in Austin, Texas - The Controller is responsible for guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is based in Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities
The overall responsibilities of the Controller fall into the following areas:
Oversee the activities of the Corporate Accounting Department. This encompasses the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements.
Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash and employee expense reimbursement.
Coordinate/monitor the activities of our Service Provider who provides company-wide payroll, time and labor management services.
Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable functions to ensure the accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including revenue recognition, cash receipts application, etc.
Assure timely and accurate compliance with all governmental reporting requirements.
Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.
Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Assist the CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Communicate with co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Participation in the Performance Evaluation program is required. * All other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent education and experience.
CPA Certification preferred.
Experience
Ten years hands-on accounting experience of which five years should be in a supervisory or management role.
Experience in government service contracting is preferred.
Strong general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable experience is required.
Possess in-depth experience working with computerized accounting software and spreadsheets.
Ceridian HPL and Microsoft Dynamics Great Plans experience strongly preferred.
Software conversion experience is required.
Solid experience coupled with a demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems is required.
Must be a self-starter who can perform as an individual or as a team member.
Working Conditions
Ability to travel by air and ground transportation up to 15%.
Possess a valid driver?s license and maintain a clean driving record.
Ability to pass criminal, financial and motor vehicle background checks.
Work is performed primarily indoors.
