Program Coordinator Part-time Job Opening in sacramento, California - Program Coordinator Part-time Health Education Council Program Coordinator The Health Education Council is dedicated to providing access, education, advocacy, and training to empower individuals towards a healthy life. The Health Education is a non-profit agency: � Focused primarily on eliminating preventable causes of death resulting from the use of tobacco, poor nutrition, and lack of physical activity; � Operating more than 25 public health programs nationwide to meet the needs of diverse communities by increasing access to health-related knowledge and information; � Working proactively and collaboratively to ensure individuals are empowered to live a healthy life; � Representing diverse staff, community partners and funders to better serve communities that otherwise do not have a voice for care, or access to healthy environments. Health Education Council's Break Free Alliance program is seeking a Part Time Program Coordinator for a data dissemination project funded by the Tobacco Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP). The goal is to identify, select and disseminate evidence-based research findings that highlight the impact of tobacco-related cancers, the benefits of the tobacco surtax and the role of the tobacco industry among California's diverse and vulnerable populations. Responsibilities The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Program Administrator, other program coordinators, volunteers, and community partners. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for: � Compiling data on tobacco use prevalence, health impact of tobacco use, tobacco industry targeting of low SES populations, etc. � Creating a report, fact sheets and policy briefs from this data � Coordinating scheduling, implementation and evaluation for disseminating data among target audience � Coordinating media outreach � Building relationships and communicating regularly with partner sites to ensure project objectives are met � Assist in evaluation of this effort by administering surveys and assisting with the development of a case study � Supervising and providing direction to Community Health Leaders (CHL's) to complete project activities � Perform other duties as assigned by Program Administrator Requirements � A passion for improving health outcomes for disadvantaged populations � Bachelors Degree in health education, education, health administration or relevant field required � Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships and in meeting and working with all levels of staff, volunteers, youth and diverse communities � Demonstrated pro-active approach � Strong writing, public speaking and communication skills � Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Publisher, Power Point, Word, Excel) � Ability and willingness to travel throughout CA and work occasionally in the evening and on weekends. Preferred Experience: � Minimum 2 years experience in health promotion or related education programs in school, work, health, or community sites preferred. � Demonstrated skill in project coordination Compensation This is a part-time, non-exempt position. After 180 days of continuous employment, benefits including medical, dental, vacation, insurance, sick leave, major holidays and retirement plan are available.
