Summary of duties and responsibilities: This person will be responsible for work needed to assure that BST provides sufficient scalability and performance for our customers. This person would benchmark our current system, develop models of our current architecture, identify system bottlenecks and manage architectural changes that would improve system performance. The system performance engineer works with all other members of the team to assure that new product features continue to operate within the required performance bounds, and system testing is set up to validate the system performance. To ensure high quality products and software to address our customers? needs by writing test plans, software code, and testing scripts. This individual will be actively involved in all phases of the software development life cycle, execute manual and automated Functional, Regression, and Performance Testing, develops and maintains automated tests, code libraries and enhances the automation test framework and infrastructure. This individual must communicate proactively and effectively with team members, team leads, product managers, software developers and management on issues. Operate effectively in a team environment under supervision.
Essential Functions:
Develops Test Plans to address the testing needs of load, stress and performance testing.
Basic knowledge using data generating tools.
Use performance tools to design and execute load and performance tests against Software Applications, Network, Mobile, Web and SQL Server, and SQL Anywhere.
Develop testing criteria, configure environment parameters, execute test scenarios, analyze results and provide recommendations.
Monitor, gather, and communicate application performance issues.
Maintain and adopt common QA processes and practices across different product lines.
Create and maintain automated API tests.
Plan and develop Test Plans and Test Cases to ensure development outputs meet defined specification cases in coordination with Business requirements, Technical Specifications, installers / upgrades documents, and management.
Document, track and escalate issues as appropriate, using JIRA or similar tools/means
Perform, Regression testing, black box functional testing, UI testing, and white box testing.
Applies test methodology, engineering and product knowledge in the design of tests and testing strategies for the analysis and certification of products.
Participate in QA peer reviews
Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
Develops, executes and analyzes the load tests.
Maintains the quality and overall integrity of the test data.

Skills/Competencies: (List specific skills/specialties in order of importance)
1-2 years experience with relational database theories.
1-2 years Load and Performance testing experience using tools like HP Center.
1-2 years API testing and scripting.
1-2 years programming logic experience preferred C#
1-2 years performing basic data mining and validation using SQL
1-2 years basic SQL experience.
1-2 years experience with SSRS
1-2 years using JIRA or other bug tracking tools.
1-2 years experience with Red Gate or other data generating tools.
Basic understanding of Virtual Server, Virtual Clients, System configuration and Software configuration.
1-2 years experience testing on single, double and triple split server environments.
Basic knowledge of Infrastructure Hardware.
Basic understanding of software architecture technologies.
Basic knowledge using monitors and analysis tool and Microsoft Visual Studio Suite.
Experience with software quality assurance methodologies and actual hands-on testing.
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
1-2 years experience with test planning, strategy, test script development and test execution.
1-2 years of hands on experience using Microsoft Visual Studio.
Desirable knowledge of HTTP, DNS, Networking ISO tree, and system resources measurement
1-2 years experience working in a Test Automation Framework
Working knowledge of Visual Studio including Microsoft Test Manager and Team Foundation Server (TFS).
Basic Testing Methodologies (Regression Test, Load Testing, Functional Test, Smoke Test, Black Box, White Box etc?).
Education, prior work experience:
Four-year degree with an emphasis in technology, to:
Two years of higher education and:
2-4 years of experience in software testing or software quality assurance.
1-2 years hands-on experience with load testing, performance test simulations, performance analysis, performance tuning, performance monitoring in an n-tier environment.
Minimum of 2 years of IT technology related experience is required
