Katahdin Valley Health Center (KVHC) is seeking a dedicated General Dentist for our Health Center located in Patten, Maine. Home to KVHC?s Administration and Patten Health Center, its close proximity to several major rivers and streams and the northern most entrance to Baxter State Park offers an abundance of outdoor year round recreational activities. Experience the newly designated Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, preserving more than 87,500 acres along the East Branch of the Penobscot River. Patten is just over an hour north of the Greater Bangor Region (Maine's 3rd largest city) where you can find an array of historic and cultural experiences, culinary and craft delights, seasonal festivals, agricultural fairs, world class concerts on the Bangor waterfront, the University of Maine's International Performing Arts Center, and Bangor International Airport.
The Dentist will provide quality general dental care and emergency treatment to KVHC patients with a flexible schedule consisting of a four (4) day work week, ten (10) hours per day with no nights, weekends, or holiday coverage. Call coverage is minimal. The Dentist will aid in appropriate supervision, coordination, and implementation of oral health care programs and procedures and will collaborate with KVHC Primary Care providers while acting as a contributing member to the Integrated Primary Care Team. The Dentist will provide input into the development of policies, services, and procedures to improve the oral health care in the area and to improve Health Center utilization. This position requires knowledge, experience and active support for rural, community oriented care.
The newly renovated Dental Suite has state-of-the-art equipment and technology and is equipped with Digital X-ray, Schick 33 sensors, digital panoramic machines, and Adec dental equipment. KVHC utilizes Dentrix Enterprise Electronic Health Record system. The patient volume averages 15 ? 20 patients per day depending on procedures with a patient mix of 30% pediatric and 70% adult. The Dental Suite consists of three dental chairs including hygiene. The Dentist will be supported by a seasoned team of Hygienists and Assistants.

Katahdin Valley Health Center is a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) as well as an accredited PCMH organization through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care since January 2014. Requirements: Graduation from an approved school of dentistry, Active State of Maine Dental License or ability to obtain, experience in rural, community oriented care preferred. Commitment to providing quality health care services with compassion and dignity.
Competitive Salary and Benefits Package - a 10% of starting salary sign on bonus; actual cost of relocation reimbursement with a $5,000 cap and in accordance with IRS guidelines; 3 weeks of vacation year one, and 4 weeks of vacation year two; 40 hours of Paid Time Off year one and 88 hours of Paid Time Off year two; 401K Safe Harbor Retirement Plan, CME reimbursements; Health Insurance Coverage for employee paid at 100%, Family Plan paid at 80%, Dental benefit for employee and family, Short and Long Term Disability and Life Insurance at 2 times annual salary paid 100% by KVHC.
