DevOps / Bioinformatics Engineer (MTx.2017-Q2-4) Job Opening in Cambridge, Massachusetts - We are seeking a DevOps / Bioinformatics Engineer fascinated by the representation and management of large genomic and systems biological datasets. As a member of a close-knit team of computational and experimental scientists, the successful candidate will implement Big Data visualization strategies using innovative approaches, and establish efficient back-end processes for data housing and access in the cloud.
Key responsibilities:
Build-out of data access portals and novel visualization of omics data, including integration of select knowledge bases
Design and implementation of mixed-use research databases (e.g., noSQL/newSQL solutions).
Vetting of internal and external data sources and implementation of data management processes.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience with AWS-based cloud compute and storage, IaaS, and *nix/HPC systems.
Strong interest in developing novel algorithms and techniques to visually interrogate and bring focus to complex systems and large datasets.
Strong organizational skills and interest in exploring new technologies and platforms.
Experience working with NGS-based datasets and exposure to common quality control measures.
Familiarity and experience in database development; especially systems intended for deep learning applications.
Familiarity with common processing frameworks and technologies (e.g. Apache Spark, SVN, etc.)
Core understanding of programming languages (Java, python, etc.) and common software engineering practices
Ability to work independently and take initiative, but also a co-operative team player.
S. or BS with 3+ years of industry experience or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines.
