Accountant/Full Charge Bookeeper Job Opening in Madison Heights, Michigan - Troy Area Musical Instrument Wholesaler seeks Accountant/Full Charge Bookeeper. Typical duties are entering and posting journal entries, bank reconciliation, general ledger through financial statements, payroll processing, credit management and general H.R.. We seek a highly detailed, accurate, trustworthy multi-tasker to perform in a variety of accounting related areas.
JOB DUTIES
Produce financial statements from start to finish.
Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
Review cash receipts.
Maintain check register, bank balance & cash flow.
Run month end and year end reports.
Produce and present profit and loss spreadsheets
Print monthly statements & review of customer account status.
Handle customer credit management by continually monitoring open accounts to make sure their accounts are current.
Email and/or call on past due accounts to request payment as needed.
Review customer requests for open account carefully with good research.
Prepare payroll bi-weekly using PenSoft accounting software.
Prepare Quarterly and Annual Returns and Deposits ( 941, 940, W-2, W2G, W9, 1096?s, 1099-R, 1099-Misc)
Review 401K plan documents & reports and submit bi-weekly deposits.
Maintain fixed assets schedule.
Maintain all tax records.
Interface with outside CPA firm.
Ability to follow through on tasks and projects, and provide owners with regular feedback.
Ability to take charge as well as be ?hands on?.
Enforcement of company policies & procedures.
Knowledge of employment laws & small business regulatory requirements.
Basic technical support person for computer network and phone system.
Directly report to company owners.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Accounting or Finance preferred, but not required.
3-5 years of experience as a full charge bookkeeper preferred.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong written communication skills.
Strong Excel skills.
Extremely strong organizational & time management skills.
