Senior Staff Accountant
SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration, the Senior Staff Accountant is an exempt position. This position is responsible for supporting and overseeing finance and accounting for the agency including accounting responsibilities, account reconciliations, participation in the annual audit, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, and production of monthly financial statements. The Senior Staff Accountant will ensure that all transactions are processed in accordance with GAAP, Federal and State grants financial management guidelines, and END ABUSE internal policies and procedures. This position, in collaboration with the Director Finance and Administration, will be responsible for training and coordinating with End Abuse staff on programmatic budgets, reimbursement obligations and timesheet allocations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Oversight
Review all deposits for proper account coding.
Review and approve all invoices for payment, ensuring invoices are coded to proper accounts.
Assist with daily, monthly, quarterly and year-end transaction processing; and monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting; monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings. This includes balance sheet, income and expense statements, and general ledger activity.
Assist with annual audit preparation and work with auditors throughout audit process.
Allocate payroll expenses based on staff timesheets.
Allocate overhead based on staff timesheets.
Government Grant and Other Funding Compliance Monitoring
Assist with the preparation and submission of financial reports on a timely basis.
Monitor grant funds received and expended and ensure that funds are used for intended purposes and that the budget is not exceeded.
Assist with the review of budgets and audit reports for sub-grantees and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Assist with Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight
Oversee receivables invoices as they relate to grant income, program income, event registrations, and donations
Verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services.
Verify that transactions comply with END ABUSE financial policies and procedures and troubleshoot as needed.
Prepare coding of invoices for Director of Finance and Administration for approval and data entry.
Provide monthly report to Fund Developer on membership dues received.
Consult regularly with the Director of Finance and Administration on potential incoming revenue so appropriate decisions can be made regarding cash flow management.
Payroll Verification
Assist with monthly payroll oversight, including timesheets, vacation, benefits and related records; responsible for communicating new hire and payroll changes to payroll firm.
Work with the Policy and Systems Manager on staff benefit enrollment and compliance, as well as personnel policy compliance.
Technical Assistance to Member Agencies:
Respond to technical assistance requests from member agencies on accounting software and/or accounting matters as requested.
Leadership Role:
The Senior Staff Accountant position is a leadership role. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance and Administration and will perform extensive finance oversight and regularly pursue opportunities to enhance compliance and financial systems. A high degree of professionalism and adherence to strict confidentiality standards and ethical practices are key components to this leadership role.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Certified Public Accountant or equivalent professional accounting experience.
3+ years of experience in finance, accounting or budget management.
1+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
High degree of professionalism and adherence to confidentiality standards.
Self-motivated, strong initiative and a quick learner.
Detail-oriented with the ability to proofread documents and emails carefully.
Ability to work on a deadline and produce high quality, accurate results.
Comfortable working independently and on a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to remain flexible and adaptable.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage concurrent projects.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word and other programs included in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Data entry and data management software experience.
Preferred
Comfort and experience using different forms of technology and software
Experience in government grant compliance and budgeting
Experience with data management and analysis;
Familiarity with SharePoint and Office365;
Any foreign language skills a plus!
The salary range for this position is $57,500-63,500 a year. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, employee assistance program, and paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.
