Information Technology Technician Level II Job Opening in Laughlin, Nevada - JOB SUMMARY :
Perform a variety of computer operations. Monitor console control panels and makes procedural and/or operational corrections as necessary. Mans help desk, provides on-call support, and manages development projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and monitor mainframe and mid-range computer and peripheral equipment to include; modems, printers, tape and disk drives, servers, PCs.
Observe operation of equipment, network monitor, control panels error lights, verification logs, error messages, and faults.
Monitor network monitor panel for faults or problems.
Monitor Help Desk and respond to trouble tickets.
Distribution and follow up on all work orders entered into help desk system.
Contact appropriate staff to resolve network monitor errors.
Determine source of computer problems (hardware, software, user access, etc.).
Advise staff on appropriate action.
Remove and distribute computer equipment and output.
Clear equipment at end of operating run and review schedule to determine next assignment.
Provide recommendations on company technology purchases.
Document computer problems and resolutions for future reference.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain communication with team members, distribute workload or assist others as appropriate.
Provide computer orientation to new company staff.
Assist personnel of other departments as a computer resource.
Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members.
Make procedural and/or operational corrections as necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
Serve as liaison between staff and the technology department to resolve issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.

Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
Ability to change backup media and run basic diagnostics;
Ability to maintain specific pertinent to the company?s computer system;
Ability to read and apply technical manuals.
Working knowledge of practices and procedures common to the IT area to which assigned; company policies related to assigned activities.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and telephone protocol.
Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills. This is normally acquired through one to three years of clerical experience.
Familiarity with operating systems.
Knowledge of computer system backup requirements and procedures.
Knowledge of computer input and output media.
Ability to initialize and operate computer hardware and software systems. Ability to utilize computer operating systems utilities.
Knowledge of computer job control procedures.
Ability to determine the nature of computer hardware and systems software problems, and to communicate technical guidance and information to users.
Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
Work with staff requires interpersonal skills.
