Senior Accountant Job Opening in Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Job Responsibilities:
· Perform month-end close duties including the analysis of financial statement variances and system issues, the preparation of various journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and reclasses, and the preparation of schedules and roll forwards for the annual financial audit.
· Prepare or review certain balance sheet account reconciliations and roll forward schedules then resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
· Support the field and field support groups (such as operating facilities, Accounts Payable, or Reimbursement) regarding accounting and reporting requirements, the proper treatment of certain transactions, and the resolution of accounting and system issues.
· Perform special projects as assigned. This assignment may include but not be limited to the coordination, facilitation, and implementation of these projects, which vary in timing and scope.
· Assist in training of Staff Accountant I and II level employees, monitor and prioritize their workflow, and ensure that they meet designated deadlines while adhering to accounting policies.
· Assist, as an end user, in the upgrade and testing of the accounting software packages.
Qualifications:
· Minimum BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
· Five (5) plus years? experience in a corporate or general accounting setting in a large company.
Knowledge and Skills:
· The ideal candidate will have solid GAAP experience.
· Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
· Proven ability to coordinate appropriate projects to ensure that critical deadlines and project objectives are met.
· Well organized and detail oriented with ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Strong listening and assessment skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Ability to exercise independent judgment
