Position Summary
The Solutions Engineer directs the assessment and solution phases of the Transportation Insight sales process. The position participates in the evaluation of validated prospects? current supply chain programs and facilitates the creation of value-added solutions for the prospective client.
The Solutions Engineer provides key solution inputs to the Solution Team for the production of the demonstration and presentation documentation. This position will need to be able to communicate with people at all levels within clients and Transportation Insight and will need to have a good understanding of supply chain management, TMS systems and solutions, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the assessment process for assigned validated prospects. Hold organization accountable to meeting assigned timelines.
Assess a validated prospects? current supply chain program by documenting current state.
Gather client requirements and understand the value to be delivered.
Understand client's application, overall objectives and requirements to propose the best solution for their needs.
Develop project plans; coordinate projects; complete projects on time; communicate changes and progress.
Participate in the solution design process by facilitating validated prospect strategy meetings and coordinating internal resources.
Work with Marketing to develop supporting material for use during the assessment process, demonstration, as well as internal training.
Assist sales personnel, as needed, in the Demonstration stage to close new business.
Manage Implementation and hand off to Client Services support groups upon completion.
Work with a cross functional delivery team to develop solutions strategy.
Stay informed of competitors? activities through information networks and participation in professional organizations, developing and maintaining effective relationships within the industry.
Support ongoing improvement efforts by documenting best practices.
Help create pricing strategies for Transportation Insight service offerings that are both competitive and attractive to prospective clients.
Analyze results of initiatives to refine strategy: provide feedback and recommendations on strategic-level and tactical-level changes that are impacted by these results.

Position Requirements
Be a detailed oriented, self-starter with strong work ethic.
Be able to manage multiple projects at any given time and be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Possess excellent organizational skills with the flexibility to readily adapt to change under stress and against tight deadlines.
Be an effective problem solver, able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations, and use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Have a professional appearance and strong informal and formal writing skills.
Have strong PC software skills, including project planning, presentation, and general business applications.
Have exceptional communication (both written and oral), presentation, organization and planning skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills to work as a team member and as a liaison with clients.
Have strong strategic and execution skills with an emphasis on results.
Have the ability to listen actively and to respond to questions with complete and accurate answers.
Be able to operate under minimal supervision.
