Clinical Assistant I Job Opening in Kearney, Nebraska - Supervisory: No direct supervisory responsibilities. May assist in training new hires and volunteers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to complete a Nebraska registered medication aide certification..
Ability to be trained in pharmacy for refill dispensing per protocols.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Operate a variety of modern office equipment, including a computer, copier, fax, etc.
Maintain confidentiality of all patient medical records, including health and financial.
Learn, interpret and apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as agency policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those who you come in contact with throughout the course of your work.
Work with a wide variety of individuals from various social and economic backgrounds and lifestyles.
Convey a non-judgmental tone about individual?s decisions regardless of personal beliefs.
Understand basic mathematical and accounting principles.
Compute and record numerical data to keep patient financial records complete and accurate.
Possess keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail.
Remain focused within a fast-paced clinic environment.
Demonstrate positive public relations skills in dealing with the public.
Work with limited supervision.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Handle potentially hazardous materials and specimens in a safe, efficient manner.
Cooperate, accept, and utilize supervision provided.
Lift up to 50 pounds, as needed.

Purpose of Position:
To perform the duties and responsibilities necessary in the process of delivering quality reproductive healthcare and family practice healthcare to patients of Central Health Center, Inc. in a manner that protects their integrity and confidentiality while adhering to the mission of the agency. To educate each patient to make informed decisions with regard to their care that is in harmony with their own ethical beliefs and values.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in exam rooms during each clinic
Perform required lab tests for patients to include hemoglobin, dip urinalysis, pregnancy test, and hemoccult test.
Obtain patient vital signs to include height, weight, blood pressure and pulse; and document in patient electronic medical record system.
Perform HIV testing, counseling, and referral techniques per agency policies and procedures.
Administer medications and injections to patients per licensed provider.
Perform phlebotomy services.
Record lab results on appropriate logs, patient medical records, and in the electronic medical record system.
Perform patient intake, post counseling interviews, fee collection, and document in patient medical record and in the electronic medical record system.
Request donations from each patient.
Perform patient income verification, per household income and federal poverty guidelines.
Dispense contraceptive refills for patients, per agency policies and procedures, as established per licensed provider.
Assist in making up patient education packets as needed.
Prepare and clean exam rooms between patients being seen at clinic.
Maintain the general appearance of the waiting room and main office work area.
Assist in the preparation and transfer internally or externally of patient records upon their written request.
Assist in handling new patient records following review by clinician.
Assist in postcard notification of patients due for an appointment.
Answer telephone calls in a pleasant manner and handle patient calls appropriately, i.e. scheduling of appointments, providing information per agency policies and procedures, and general screening and routing of calls, etc.
Retrieve recorded messages from answering machines.
Assist in calling patients in advance to remind them of their
Accurately post patient receivables and insurance receivables.
Balancing of funds to close out the day?s business.
Make routine bank deposits.
Assist in the ordering of clinic/office supplies.
Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory control of clinic/office supplies.
Develop and maintain inventory of patient education packets for clinics.
Actively participate in quality assurance and safety activities and responsibilities.
Enroll patients presumptively, based on eligible criteria, for Every Woman Matters.
Enroll qualified pregnant women presumptively based on criteria for Medicaid.
Attend staff meetings and continuing education, as directed by per supervisor(s).
Keep informed of current developments in reproductive health care for men and women.
Assist at other clinic locations, as needed as directed per supervisor(s).
Assist in staff and volunteer training and orientation
If bilingual, provide translation services to patients, as needed for their care and services
Other duties as assigned
Pay Scale Hourly Rate $10.00 - $13.00
