Sales Manager Job Opening in Newport, Rhode island - Gurney?s Newport is the only resort property in the Newport, with 257 guest rooms and suites, multiple spacious event venues, a full-service spa, as well as year-round and seasonal food & beverage experiences. Throughout 2017, the guest experience is set to be enhanced, including: a refreshed lobby and room design that will stay true to the property?s New England aesthetic and origins; a new marina; an expanded pool deck and Pool Club, and a Kids? Club with expanded family amenities. All food and beverage components will be overseen by LDV Hospitality, including the addition of the brand?s signature restaurant, Scarpetta, as well as the elevation of banquet and catering experiences and seasonal poolside favorite Pineapples.
BASIC PURPOSE:
The Sales Manager is responsible for all first line corporate group and event inquires via telephone, website, RFP sites and leads sent internally at Gurney?s.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Required:
Hiring,Training and Supervising Sales Coordinators.
To take first line enquiries for all corporate group, meeting, conference, events to a luxury standard
To create detailed and tailored proposals for each individual enquiry
Contract within 24 hours of verbal or written confirmation
To convert leads
100% accuracy in invoices, revenue, contracts, proposals etc
After counter signed contract stage and received initial deposits due upon signature of contract, hand the client seamlessly over to the assigned Conference Service Manager
Prepare detailed contracts as per SOP
On property site visits
Be a representation of the luxury brand
Function diary yield management
Meticulous attention to detail
Pass 2 mystery shop calls on a monthly basis at 85% or higher
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
or Delphi knowledge desired but not essential
Opera PMS knowledge required but not essential
Luxury hotel background preferable
On property hotel reactive sales experience essential
Extremely polished and presentable at all times adhering to the company grooming standards
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: previous hotel experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
Computer literate
Strong Communication Skills
Strong Customer Service Skills
