Food Front Co-op is seeking a community-oriented visionary to lead our cooperative in an increasingly competitive environment. We operate two retail natural food stores in the heart of Portland, recognized as one of the fastest growing, most desirable cities in the country. Food Front has served our 14,000 owners and local community for 45 years! We employ a workforce of more than 70 talented people with 11.4 million in annual sales.
Food Front Co-op offers a wide selection of high quality, local, organic, and natural food and household products. We are dedicated to the International Cooperative Principles and committed to serving our owners by building a vibrant community, growing our local economy, and supporting the growth of local small scale farmers and producers.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years? experience in a general manager (or other senior management) position at a food co-op or grocery store. The General Manager (GM) will plan and oversee all Co-op operations, and be responsible for meeting all business and organizational goals. Candidates should have a solid understanding of business accounting principles, organizational budgeting and business planning, as well as margins, setting sales goals, pricing, product merchandising, and union relations. The GM is responsible for the hiring and supervision of all of Co-op management, and will report directly to the Board of Directors under Policy Governance. It is imperative that the GM value the Co-op principles and has the proven ability to lead and motivate others.
