The position is for a software engineer to design and develop a desktop app for ruggedized computer to be used within Railroad eco system.
In this role, the Software Engineer is expected to work on software development and maintenance of the ruggedized computer desktop application. Engineer in this role is expected to work closely with the software development and test team. The software engineer is also expected to assist software development team in performing sub-system and system level software verification testing. The software engineer will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Job Functions:
Participate in the software design, development and maintenance tasks on the project,
Work in an environment of developers using open source development tools.
Secondary Job Functions:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5 yrs of Software development experience on developing standalone Desktop applications using Java Swing or JavaFX.
Preferred:
Experience with using Java Swing or JavaFX to develop standalone desktop applications,
Experience with developing web application and technologies using Java, Weblogic/JBOSS, CORBA, Linux
Experience with embedded system development using C++ desirable
Experience with Scrum/ Agile development,
Experience with software version management (ClearCase, SVN, or Git),
Ability to work with a cross-functional team.
Domain knowledge in Railroad Operating Practices
Strong oral and written communication skills.
