POSITION: Sales Account Manager
REPORTING TO: Director of Sales & Marketing
Under the direction of the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Account Manager will plan, develop, and manage relationships with key dedicated accounts, to achieve corporate sales volume and profitability goals. Further, this position will initiate and participate in process improvement projects, build working relationships with key account stakeholders, and assist with the mentoring and training of team members.
Job Responsibilities:
Forecast monthly and annual sales for all products, while meeting targets for profitable sales volumes in assigned territories or accounts
Identify new sales opportunities with key accounts, markets, new customers, decision makers, while developing relationships, along with planning, budgeting
Coordinate all aspects of the respective tradeshow, including assembly and shipment of materials; perform product demonstrations at trade shows and other events
Assist with the development of innovative marketing and pricing programs and show event campaigns
Coordinate the involvement of operations, sales, and marketing, to meet account performance objectives and customers? expectations for assigned accounts
Analyze product cost and market price to determine competitive package pricing and package discounts for applicable products
Travel within designated territory to visit key assigned account customers
Maintain customer contact information in CRM and vendor and item information in customer systems
Assist with managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning, development of content, accurate vendor and item form submissions, to tactical activities
Assist in specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research both on line and by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
Conduct market assessments and competitive analyses to identify product opportunities to meet different needs and develop strategies and actions to combat competitor market and product position
Develop hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products and maintain technical analysis of competitive strengths and weaknesses
Consult with sales team and product development in the discovery of new opportunities, the evaluation of assigned key accounts for profitability, loss, and for assistance with setting future sales growth
Research and determine highest potential market prospects; develop a sales strategy for these key accounts to nurture effective business relationships and grow sales
Communicate product changes, new product programs, samples, quotations, specifications and pricing changes in a timely manner
Communicate customer reactions and problems to others in the organization to aid in maintaining and improving customer satisfaction
Support the Director of Sales and Marketing in other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
Job Skills Requirements:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with diverse groups of people
Expert on trade agreements that directly affect the sales area
Solid computer skills, including proficiency with PC and Windows Operating system, Microsoft Office Suite and contact resource management (CRM) software
Solid analytical skills to effectively develop strategies and solve problems
Good negotiation skills
Ability to initiate and complete projects independently
Ability for significant travel which may include overnight, weekend travel, and weekend tradeshows
Must have valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record along with adequate automobile insurance
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field, or related equivalent experience
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of three years? experience working in the retail sales channel, outside sales, business development, or related field.
Knowledge of the hardware, home improvement, lawn and garden, and Canadian markets is a plus!
