Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant assists the Corporate Controller with organizing and coordinating Emergo?s daily financial and accounting activities. This includes maintaining company accounts in accounting system by making cash entries, reviewing assigned accounts, assisting with bank and intercompany reconciliations, preparing adjusting journal entries, and preparing related reports. The Junior Accountant supports all aspects of the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable process, including daily reporting and cash entry of all client and vendor payments, set-up of vendor payments (EFT, ACH, Checks), and all client-related intercompany entries in the accounting books.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Check bank accounts daily to collect client payments
Notify appropriate groups of incoming payments and related sales invoices
Record incoming payments from credit cards, checks and EFT in the ERP system
Prepare weekly report of open payables, coordinate with project managers to determine weekly vendor payments.
Prepare ACH payments in bank platform, or write checks, for approved payables
Lead the AR updating and collection process. Must be familiar with all tasks performed on the AR side and is responsible for updating and finding efficiencies within the process, as well as interaction with other departments.
Assist with financial close activities
Assist with reconciling accounts including, but not limited to: bank accounts, fees paid in advance, undeposited funds, corporate credit card and intercompany accounts
Assist with adjusting journal entries and accruals
Prepare annual 1099 with oversight
Provide assistance and direction to other Accounting and Finance staff.
Maintain documentation of related Accounting and Finance procedures.
We are seeking candidates who can show they possess the following qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Fluent in English
MS Office, advanced Excel (v-lookup, Pivot-tables, subtotals)
Strong problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment, without the need for close supervision
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, processes and instructions
A quick learner ? and motivated to excel in this position
Ability to think outside of the box
Experience with SalesForce and FinancialForce Accounting preferred, but not required
University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
One to two years of directly related accounting experience
Detailed knowledge of accounting theories and practices in area of responsibility
Working knowledge of all other accounting procedures
