Director of Operations - Ambulatory Surgery Center Job Opening in Eugene, Oregon - Job Purpose: Responsible for directing and supervising the operations of the center. This position would be appropriate for an established ASC director or a surgical technologist ready to move into the role of Director of Operations. In addition to possessing clinical knowledge, the Director needs to have strong administrative skills to plan, direct and coordinate the delivery of patient care. Individuals in this role may also be called on to improve workflow efficiency. This job is a multi-faceted and progressive position. With training, you will progressively grow into the position.
Principal Accountabilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the facility.
Manage the recruitment and hiring of staff, their training and evaluations.
Manage all credentialing and ensuring that credentialing files are complete and current for all members of the team (MDs, CRNAs, Nurses and ancillary staff).
Ensure the Organization complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations as well as regulatory and accrediting agencies. Conduct compliance surveys at facilities. Participate in state, federal, regulatory and accreditation surveys and compliance reviews. Assist in coordinating action plans to minimize liability and risks. Review and report regulatory directives and implement changes as needed. Identify issues and develop corrective action plans and resolutions.
Coordinates activities with physicians, third party payors, Center staff, patients, visitors and other staff on a regular basis to assure that work flows efficiently and effectively, that patients and physicians are satisfied with services and that quality patient care is delivered.
Responsibility for clinical and nursing activities including policies, procedures and training. Oversees patient care activities in the preoperative area, operating room and recovery room, including development of Performance Enhancement Program, including Infection Control and Safety plans, purchasing of equipment, supplies and controlled drugs, accurate medical record documentation in conjunction with other managers.
Conduct regular staff meetings.
Work closely with the Medical Director and Physician Managers (MDs) to establish efficient and productive flow and scheduling in the facility, all-the-while keeping patient care as your focus.
Serves as a member of the Governing Board.
Serves on the Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, Safety and HIPPA Committees.
Works to develop and implement Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program that generates measurable outcome, quality and satisfaction benchmarks for continuous improvement in the areas of patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Oversee staff responsible for Infection Control and Prevention.
Manages the records staff, assists in transition to electronic patient charts and of EMR system that works effectively with affiliated practices.
Maintains active professional relationships with doctors, third party/managed care payors and patients by assessing needs and levels of satisfaction with Center service.
Demonstrates a positive, friendly and courteous manner towards employees, physicians, patients and management at all times.
Responsible for all staff member scheduling and efficient utilization of all staffing resources. Coordinates with other managers/leaders this this process. Maintains a balance between customer care, staffing needs and sound fiscal management. Creates ways to optimize case flow and facility utilization.
Assists General Manager in managing the administrative needs including oversight of administration, IT, facilities, human resources, accounting, business development, marketing, public and community relations, risk management and guiding departments in implementing strategic solutions to enhance or develop goals and objectives.
Assists General Manager and Physician Managers in developing short-term and long-term strategic plans, in collaboration with the Administration for the organizations and offered services. Ensure the strategic plan is articulated both internally and externally, and effectively delegates key activities to ensure timely execution of the strategic plan initiatives.
Management of the preservation of the asset value of the Organization?s capital investments, manages the construction and facility rehabilitation activities, and ensures disaster and emergency preparedness activities are appropriately planned, exercised, and documented.
Manage all purchasing and contracts for supplies, medications, instrumentation, services, etc., with the assistance of assigned staff, in coordination with other managers.
Oversee all infection management and prevention with the assistance of assigned staff, including the NHSN annual influenza reporting.
Ensure emergency preparedness drills are completed and all Fire Life Safety requirements, inspections, logs and reporting are complete.
Promote trust and communication throughout the facility and among the staff ? focusing on training, inspiration, promotion and delegation.
Desired Experience:
If you are a Surgical Technologist, you must be one of the following:
Grandfathered in as a Surgical Tech, with proof of CEUs to stay current with State Laws
Certified through NBSTSA
Desired Skills:
Analytical: Review and analyze different information for use and implementation.
Communication: Effective communicator with all levels of staff and depth of knowledge.
Attention to Detail: Building quality and continuous improvement requires focus on the details.
Leadership: Motivating and coordinating vendors, staff, physicians, etc.
Groups/Teams: Demonstrated experience working with groups and teams of employees.
Health Care Background: Preference to candidate with health care background and eye care experience
Ambulatory Surgery Center Experience highly desired
Accreditation: Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accreditation experience highly desired.
Human Resources: Strong personnel management and supervisory skills including understanding of issues working within a health care organization with the ability to act within company policies. Ability to establish appropriate controls and operate effectively within a clinical and corporate environment.
Flexible: Proven ability to function effectively in a diverse, ever-changing, and unpredictable environment. Proven ability to manage crisis situations and manage multiple and complex priorities.
Organized: Strong organization, problem solving, negotiation and decision making skills with expertise in clarifying and resolving conflict situations and developing attainable goals and procedures.
Personal Character: Must conduct oneself with the highest degree of honesty and integrity in every interaction.
