Staff Accountant Job Opening in Sanford, North carolina - Randstad Professionals is currently recruiting for a Staff / Senior Accountant on behalf of a major international manufacturer in the Raleigh-Durham area. This position provides accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting services in the area of general accounting in order to sufficiently meet the goals of corporate reporting requirements. In addition, this position will drive process improvements over the general accounting area as well as strengthen our control environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plays a key role in month-end closing, including preparation and posting of journal entries
Ensure monthly GL account reconciliations are performed timely for related accounts
Support internal and external auditors in SOX control and financial statement testing
Provide special project support as assigned
General Ledger Account Analysis / Reconciliation may include but not limited to:
Cash accounts (lockbox, disbursement, concentration, and miscellaneous depository)
Prepaid expenses and related amortization schedules (insurance, maintenance, etc.)
Non-trade receivable accounts
Debt related activities
Other Assets
Inventory (variance accounts, clearing accounts)
Intercompany
Miscellaneous accrual accounts
Month-end close and Reporting
Post recurring and miscellaneous journal entries
Submit data in Hyperion in line Corporate reporting requirements
Assist with quarterly reporting requirements
Fixed Assets Accounting
Record additions, disposals, transfers, and other adjustments to Fixed Assets sub ledger.
Generate and record expense.
Monthly reporting of capital spend
Preparation of Fixed Asset Roll forward reports
Quarterly reporting and analytics
SOX controls
Adhere to/improve current SOX controls and work with Management and Internal Audit to implement any additional necessary controls.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
1-3 years of Public Accounting experience, specifically in Audit, or industry equivalent
Experience with ERP Systems preferred; preferably SAP
Experience with manufacturing environments preferred, but not required
Firm understanding of basic accounting, financial statements and US GAAP.
Full understanding of the month end close process and how it relates to other closing activities.
