Job summary overview:
The role of the Plant Operations & Safety Coordinator includes secretarial, public relations, problem-solving and data gathering or reporting. Serves as an assistant to the District Safety Officer and assists in coordinating the organizational safety program. The Plant Operations & Safety Coordinator is dedicated to providing quality service in a timely, courteous and cost effective manner.
Essential Functions:
Assists in the responsibilities of maintaining the environment of care program for the hospital and clinics to ensure a safe and secure working environment for staff, visitors and patients.
Ensures that the organization complies with accrediting agencies, federal, state and local requirements.
Prepares management reports as needed, using collected data, and published research.
Develops and revises departmental forms as appropriate.
Communicates with staff on a wide variety of safety issues, policies, and concerns including waste management, and hazardous material control.
Assists in the planning, communication, and administration of safety meetings, department training, and environmental rounds.
Assists in the planning and management of projects of varying sizes and complexity.
Coordinates the safety program to ensure the organization?s safety standards are in compliance with external regulations; i.e., OSHA, DOH, WISHA, DNV, CMS, etc.
Coordinates duties specific to disaster and emergency preparedness and the various committees associated with same.
Assists in the development of formal training programs for the organization and the department covering a variety of areas associated with staff safety, facility environment, disaster preparedness, emergency preparedness, and new programs or regulations. Coordinates employee safety concerns by examining safety issues, preparing corrective actions and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Ensures compliance with certification aspects associated with OSHA and other regulatory agencies not met by other departmental positions.
Serves as a resource to departments in developing safe working habits and maintaining a safe working environment.
Assists in the planning, coordinating and implementation of required drills.
Maintains the MSDS Inventory.
Conducts the annual chemical hazardous vapors training and program administration.
Conducts safety audits and consultations.
Coordinates, tracks, facilities work orders, compiles data, prints reports, follows up on completion of work orders and communicates with customers on the status or completion of their work order.
Assists with oversight of vendors and contractors regarding needs of the facility and giving the organization proposals on completion of special projects and work.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Must maintain USDOT Hazmat certification before working solo or within 90 days of hire, whichever comes first.
Required Experience:
One to three years of experience in safety and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOH, DNV) and workplace safety experience, preferably in healthcare.
Understanding of current OSHA regulations and all federal, state and local workplace safety laws.
