BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Accounting Specialist for Accounts Payable is responsible for processing transactions in the computerized AP module and in related functions. The specialist provides accounting support for the center managers. The specialist coordinates with each center manager in their specialized area and overall to the Chief Financial Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
An associate degree in business administration or accounting preferred. A career job certificate and 3 to 5 years experience in the field required. Knowledge of computerized accounts payable and general ledger recommended. Verbal and written communication skills to assist staff and vendors with accounts payable and management. Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and requirements.
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position is responsible for input, maintenance and processing invoices in the AP accounting module following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and agency policies and procedures. The Accounting Specialist provides staff support for managers responsible for the financial and business contracts they relate to and the billing functions. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Accounts Payable
Full function of AP
Inputs all agency invoices
Generates Aging Report
Disburses checks
Maintains all supporting files for AP

Assists with bulk mail and mail merges as necessary
Assists with grant proposals and other research projects as necessary
Assists with planning and executions of special projects (e.g. volunteer projects)
Assists with workshops and annual meetings as necessary
Assists with obtaining bids or proposals for services or goods
Performs other duties as requested by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer
