The Junior Software Engineer (JSE) is a full-time position with STR Software. The JSE reports directly to the Manager of Product Development and is a member of a team that is responsible for the design, development, documentation, delivery, and support of business automation software. The JSE is responsible for ensuring the overall success of STR Software?s customers in the following ways:
Developing software of the highest quality using concepts such as Test-Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development, and Continuous Integration
Writing accurate and easy to follow customer facing documentation
Supporting the development process by automating tests, processes, and maintaining the CI pipeline
Assisting customers directly via software upgrades, on-site assistance, and occasional primary support
Supporting primary support, systems and sales engineers
Qualifications:
High school diploma is required.
College Degree in Computer Science field or equivalent work experience.
0-2 years of software development experience.

Responsibilities:
Support the development life cycle of new and existing products.
Participate in gathering requirements for software improvements and bug fixes. Use Behavior Driven Development to write and implement acceptance tests to satisfy requirements.
Use Test Driven Development to code and test software changes (including new development), ensuring adequate code coverage.
Document changes to software adhering to company standards.
Assist the development team in maintenance of the Continuous Integration pipeline via automating build and deployment processes as well as maintaining key development infrastructure.
Provide occasional primary support, working directly with customers to resolve issues, including occasional coverage of the daily evening shift (5:00 ? 8:00PM EST).
As workload requires, assist customers with both off-site (remote) and on-site upgrades.
Provide third-level support of Technical Support Representatives (TSR) and System Engineers (SE) with the following duties:
Provide timely, creative and correct resolutions for customers experiencing issues in their environment.
Assist TSRs and SEs with quotes for custom development, and recommendations for upgrade paths.
Participate in 24x7 support escalation rotation.
Support internal activities with company personnel:
Assist with the training and development of new and existing employees.
Assist sales force in answering questions and creating solutions for prospective customer.
Act as a mentor and role model to other developers.
Other activities as required:
Perform other duties as assigned.
