Job Summary
The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports for individuals and companies. The CPA will use financial reports to prepare federal and state taxes for individuals and small businesses. Oversight of internal operations of the firm is imperative as this position fulfills a supervisory role in both accounting and operations.
Essential Functions
Compute taxes owed by following tax code.
Prepare and review simple to complex federal and state tax returns for individuals and/or small businesses.
Prepare and review other various tax filings: annual reports, intangible tax, sales and use tax.
Perform duties related to bookkeeping, preparation of government audits, taxes, and financial planning/consulting; research work papers for various book to tax differences.
Recommend fiscally advantageous methods to save money.
Work with tax returns and analyze financial information to ensure taxes are paid properly and on time.
Review financial records and advise against potential tax liabilities.
Advise clients on tax ramifications of decisions.
Act as a consultant in areas such as compensation, benefits, and asset protection.
Prepare tax returns utilizing electronic filing software and internal company tax preparation software.
Ensure clients receive a copy of the completed return.
Consult tax law handbooks as needed for complex tax returns.

Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
This position is largely sedentary; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stoop, or stand on a stool as necessary.
Requirements
Some travel is expected for this position. However, travel is primarily local and during business hours.
Working knowledge of office equipment, mail processes, and facilities management.
Bachelor?s Degree
Active CPA License in the states of Oregon and Washington.
Three years? experience in public accounting with management or related role
