Staff Accountant Job Opening in Rice Lake, Wisconsin - Ability to identify, analyze and make recommendations for improvements or to correct problems.
Maintains the integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger system that is supported by adequate work papers.
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of accounting records and financial reports in accordance with corporate guideline, GAAP & SOX.
Prepares and enters journal entries on a monthly basis for standard recurring items and ad hoc as required.
Performs monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger account reconciliations as well as supporting GL entries.
Assists the management team in preparing ?Requests for Expenditures?, reconciles construction in progress accounts.
Assists in an annual audit of physical fixed assets to ?book? fixed assets, submits and prepares adjusting entries.
Understands the internal controls structure of the company as it pertains to SOX and adequately tests appropriate controls.
Maintain the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedule on the BNA software system. Prepare journal entries for depreciation and insure proper recording of new purchases, disposals, and transfers.
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and year end reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting records.
Perform SOX self-testing as outlined by Internal Audit directed schedule.
Assist with internal, external, and tax audits.
Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
Assist plant manager in annual physical inventory and cycle count process, and investigate variances.
Ensure that cash applications and accounts payable processes are completed timely and accurately.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial aspects of the Rice Lake location. Under the general supervision of the Plant Controller, the position is responsible for providing financial oversight related to manufacturing performance. Responsibilities include delivery of timely and accurate financial reporting to location management.
It is critical that preparation of are prepared and maintained in accordance with Corporate guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles. A high degree of accuracy is necessary to properly account for company profitability.
The incumbent must have an understanding or be able to develop a thorough understanding of the products, parts, components, and manufacturing processes. Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and with external customers. A Bachelor?s Degree in Finance or Accounting and 1-3 years finance or related experience in a manufacturing environment, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to carry out the essential functions of the job. Strong with ERP systems and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and 10 key.
