Job Description
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Required 8+ years of Cognos experience.
2. Required 2+ years of Data Stage ETL experience in a software development organization.
3. Preferred 2+ years of Cognos Technical Lead experience.
4. Database platform skills within SQL x08/x12, and DB2.
5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written.
6. Knowledge and experience of Retail and Supply Chain systems and building reports is a plus.
7. Expertise within Data Manager, Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio, Workspace, and Cognos Connection.
8. Proficiency in designing and performance tuning relational and dimensional database models.
9. Database design experience in aggregation, partitioning, and indexing.
10. Proficiency within Cognos administration and security.
11. Ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and quickly draw valid conclusions.
12. Proven ability to develop and deliver products with defined and required content; on time, on quality, and on-cost.
13. Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to accomplish business objectives.
14. Experience in multiple SDLC methodologies including: Waterfall and Agile. Detail
Responsibilities :
1. Design BI solutions supporting business domains.
2. Design effective database models to enhance internal reporting capabilities.
3. Implement Cognos features with a focus on quality and system performance.
4. Develop and support production Cognos and Data Stage platforms including ETL, Reporting, Analytics, and Dashboards.
5. Maintain and enhance production schedules to optimize ETL and reporting output.
6. Actively identify performance opportunities and implement improvements over current state.
7. Define and implement BI standards and best practices for modeling, ETL, reporting, and dashboards.
8. Collaborate and drive system architecture, design, and platform decisions.
9. Participate in all phases of the SDLC: requirements, design, development, testing, and production/go live.
10. Communicate project status, task status, roadblocks, and critical matters to management promptly.
11. Analyze software requirements and create reliable duration estimates for approved projects.
12. Collaborate with software development teams to solve problems within BI applications and integrated applications.
