Accounting Manager Job Opening in San Jose, California - Biggs Cardosa Associates Inc. is a 100 person professional consulting firm and we are looking for an Accounting Manager. You will need to have a minimum of a BS degree in accounting and 10 years of experience in working with and or for professional consulting firms. You will also need to have experience in managing a small staff of one or two people. You will report directly to the President of the company and need to be able to manage and work with the company Principals, and Project Managers, clients, public agencies, our CPA firm, and a variety of auditing agencies.
Our CPA firm prepares our financial statements, Federal and State tax returns, and performs a yearly audit of our overhead rates which are prepared by our Accounting Manager and are based on Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). We also rely upon an outside payroll service but track and maintain hours worked, pay rates, overtime, vacation, bonuses, and company benefits in-house. You will be expected to manage and be responsible for your time, oversee the complete company accounting process, and report to the President, all with limited direction.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
Preparation of In-House Financial Statements (cash flow, company PL statements including break downs by office, depreciation schedules, and employee hourly recaps
Oversee preparation of invoices, including invoices for complex projects with multiple sub- consultants
Preparation of monthly project status report
Sub-Consultant Management. (oversee sub-consultant bills, ensuring invoices are put together properly, billed to the client, and paid upon getting paid by our client)
Preparation of Quarterly information to go to our CPA firm
Interface with our CPA firm
Preparation of the Labor Burden per Federal Acquisition Accounting regulations
In-Charge of updating bad debt list quarterly
Review contracts (to make sure that we are following invoicing procedures and special rate billing schedules)
401(k) plan administration
Oversee payroll
Maintain and balance checkbook
Maintain all accounting information for 865 The Alameda, an LLC company
Oversee Payables
Prepare overhead multiplier and oversee audit performance by CPA as well as being the main point of contact for audits performed by outside agencies.
Preparation of Tax Planning Worksheets
Preparation of supporting documentation for yearly employee reviews and raises
Preparation of supporting documentation for yearly employee bonuses
Preparation of supporting documentation for yearly principal bonuses
Oversee workman's compensation audit
Preparation of backup information for professional liability insurance renewal and workman's comp renewal
Ensure staying current on Prevailing Wages Rate regulations
Preparation of cost proposals
Maintain labor rate schedules (including requesting rate increases when allowed)
Interfacing with our Computer Resources Group and Deltek staff to upgrade accounting software on a periodic basis
Miscellaneous Requirements:
Working knowledge of the FAR regulations
Knowledge of Detek-Vision accounting software with programming experience an added benefit
Extensive working knowledge of Excel
