Senior Corporate Accounting Manager Job Opening in San Carlos, California - Summary
The Senior Corporate Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of all areas of financial record keeping, developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close of accounting records and preparing financial statements, reports, and schedules. The Senior Corporate Accounting Manager addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, inter-company consolidations, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. This position supervises junior accounting staff. The Senior Corporate Accounting Manager will have contact with senior level executives and reports into the Controller.
The ideal candidate will have an accounting background with a strong understanding of GAAP. This person will also have a great, outgoing personality, outstanding organization skills, and initiative. The candidate should be able to work independently, but also function in a team environment. This position requires you to be technical in nature, handle a variety of tasks and be able to shift focus quickly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Including but not limited to:
Obtain maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
Understand the accounting operations from quote to cash (to include WIP & COGS) Reconcile accounting data processed through accounts payable and accounts receivables
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
Reconcile assigned GL accounts and maintain supporting detail
Analyze and explain account variance
Prepare and post recurring and adjustment journal entries, accruals and deferrals.
Support external audit checks by assisting in the preparation of audit schedules
Support budget and forecasting activities
Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
Assist the Controller to ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Research and resolves reconciling items in a timely manner
Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting
Adhere to internal control policies throughout the Company
Drive to continuously improve the accounting and reporting processes and systems
Provide backup support for daily cash reconciliations
Work with other departments to collect and ensure timeliness and accuracy of supporting documents
Perform other ad hoc participates in special projects/requests as needed
Skills/Knowledge Required
Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and process improvement skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with customers and vendors
Work ethic that exudes integrity, accountability, and professionalism
High attention to detail
Excellent Excel skills
Required
4-6 years of total experience in accounting, with 2+ years related to general ledger roles
Work in Process and Cost of Goods accounting experience a plus
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
Solid accounting background, with adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word), level in Excel, including proficiency with lookups and pivot tables a plus
Self-motivated and able to contribute individually and as a team, with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task, as well as prioritize and adhere to tight deadlines
A strong understanding of financial statements
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required
