Palms Imaging Center is a multi-modality outpatient radiology facility accredited by the American College of Radiology. We provide several services to our patients including PET/CT, MR, Ultrasound, Mammography, X-ray, Interventional Radiology, Prostate MRI, Breast MRI, Nuchal Translucency exams, and more. We are currently looking for a full-time Health Benefits Coordinator to join our team to help patients get the medical procedures they need. In this position, you contact a patient?s insurance company to verify coverage levels and work with individuals to educate them on their benefits. This position requires professionals to spend extensive amounts of time on the phone with patients and insurance companies.
Skill Set
Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to work on many projects at once
Detail-oriented and organized, to maintain accurate patient insurance records
Excellent organizational skills are required as insurance paperwork needs to be processed in a timely manner
Must work well with others, as we all work as part of a health care team, striving to provide patients with the best care possible
Compassion, patience and a strong phone presence is key
Responsibilities
Verify insurance coverage, this includes but is not limited to PPO plans, Medicare, Medi-cal, Gold Coast, Clinicas Del Camino Real, and others upon request
Entering data in an accurate manner
Verify that existing information is accurate
Updating patient benefit information
Providing patients with pertinent information regarding their coverage
Submitting for authorization when required by the insurance plan
Explain to patients? coverage amounts and out of pocket responsibility
Help patients arrange payment plans for services that are not covered by their insurance
Must also be willing to perform other light administrative duties as needed
Education and Experience
Associate?s Degree required, Bachelor?s Degree preferred OR at least four years of related experience and high school diploma
Experience working in a medical/healthcare setting, preferably with some billing and insurance experience
Working knowledge of Spanish preferred
