Staff Accountant Job Opening in Scottsdale, Arizona - Primary Duties:
Responsible for all aspects of restaurant accounting, including but not limited to: daily sales reports, account reconciliation and analysis of the General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable input and processing as well as month-end close accounting activities.
Essential Accounting Job Functions:
Works with restaurant managers to ensure that all accounts payable invoices are coded correctly.
Responsible for the data entry, payment of invoices in a timely manner, and filing of all Accounts Payable invoices.
Researches any questionable invoices and/or payments at the corporate and restaurant level.
Enter daily banking transactions.
Preparing, auditing and payment of monthly sales tax and franchise fees including generation of sales reports and filing forms.
Preparing, auditing and payment of monthly Percentage Rents including rent calculations, sales reports and statements to landlords.
Works to ensure that all entries on General Ledger are accurate and done in a timely manner.
Audit, review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications ensuring the correct entity is charged.
Provides feedback to VP of Finance and Accounting on any discrepancies with the General Ledger and Accounts Payable.
Prepare and distribute Daily Sales Reports
Update and maintain Cost Books
Prepare financial statements for VP of Finance and Acct?s review
Prepare and distribute period end reports
Annual 8027 filing,
Marketing budget and projections
Accounts receivable aging review/resolution
Procedure development
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by the VP of Finance & Accounting and the CEO.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner to ensure all deadlines are met.

Essential Payroll Job Functions:
Manages payroll module implementation, vacation accruals, payroll tax reconciliation, etc.
Inputs all new hire, termination, pay rate changes, tax withholding changes, benefit deductions, and personal information into Paycom Payroll system
Process, review and verify processed bi-weekly Payroll.
Generate and distribute necessary bi-weekly/periodic payroll/HR Reports including but not limited to overtime, turnover, terminations and active employee lists.
Maintains last time paid report, ensures all employee terminations are done in a timely manner.
Provides quarterly analysis reports on employee termination and retention.
Respond to all employee payroll inquiries ? other agencies
Respond to all unemployment/other agencies inquiries/notices and notify HR Manager of any notable issues.
Tracks employee contribution to benefits; and bills employees monthly for any shortfall amount.
Education and Experience:
College degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of General Ledger Accounting experience.
Excellent verbal communication and analytical skills required.
Intermediate to advance Excel skills.
Must have 2 years payroll experience preferably with Paycom.
Special Working Conditions:
Must have the ability to express maturity and social skills when dealing with vendors as well as restaurant management teams.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in an environment where there may be regular exposure to noise, odors, fumes, temperature fluctuations, grease and other conditions associated with a restaurant. Lift minimum of 25 lbs, standing for long periods of time. Vision abilities to include: distance, close, color, depth, and peripheral. Also the ability to adjust focus. Regular use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
