Analytical Chemist Job Opening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Qualifications: BS in chemistry or a physical science with chemistry lab experience. 3-5 years experience in the laboratory environment. Experience with GC, HPLC, IR and FDA / EPA regulations preferred.
Responsibilities: The Analytical Chemist position is responsible for ensuring all testing is conducted in accordance with SP, EPA, and cGMP procedures and guidelines. Additionally, this position is responsible for the completion of laboratory investigations, making recommendations for the acquisition of capital equipment for testing, performing site cleaning and process validation studies, participating in new product introductions, providing international customer support, and participating in the resolution of technical issues surrounding formulation problems. Performance of the department is measured through customer service to production, lack of audit observations, and a minimal number of analyst errors. Analytical Testing (50%) Perform analytical tests utilizing standard test methods. Preparation of analytical working standard solutions. Conduct and define system suitability tests to evaluate analytical equipment. Perform analysis of raw materials, bulk products, and finish products for release. Perform laboratory investigations on out of specification and out of guideline test results. Train other chemists on new and updated standard test methods and standard operating procedures. All other duties as assigned. Documentation Support (15%) Write and update standard test methods. Write and update standard operating procedures utilized by the Quality Control Laboratory. Write IQ/OQ validation protocols to support old and new laboratory equipment. Write standard test method validation protocols. Write stability protocols to support products manufactured and packaged at the Baton Rouge site. Write summary reports to support laboratory studies and investigations. All other duties as assigned. Compliance/ Quality Assurance (15%) Internal auditing of site manufacturing, packaging and material handling, for compliance against standard operating procedures and company policies. Auditing of key suppliers and ensuring follow-up on corrective actions. Follow-up on corrective actions resulting from regulatory agencies and corporate audits. Implementation of quality improvement systems for department and site. Keep abreast of the safety and environmental issues for the department and site. Perform safety inspections of Laboratory and other departments for site. Provide training on SOPs and GMPs for department and site. All other duties as assigned. New Test Method Development & Validation (20%) Provide support for Quality Control Laboratory for transfer of technology and products to site. Assist in the development and implementation of test procedures that improve Laboratory efficiency. Write specifications for new raw materials and finished products. Evaluate the use of new equipment and testing procedures. All other duties as assigned.
