JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Property Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and accounts payable, month-end closing and financial reporting, cash management, and support for our construction and rehab projects. Our growing portfolio consists of a mix of affordable, student housing, and senior living multifamily apartments financed with combinations of private activity bonds, 501(c)(3) bonds, low income housing tax credits, and market rate mortgages. The Property Controller will work closely with the Property and Regional Managers, as well as the executive team.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage the month end closing process for the portfolio of 33 properties and communicate with property managers and regional managers on reporting and schedule requirements.
Responsible for the timely reporting of all monthly financial information, and meeting external reporting deadlines.
Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources.
Meet lender and partner monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Calculate portfolio cash distributions and report to executive team.
Assist in year-end budgeting activities.
Oversee accounting/accounts payable staff.
Position Qualifications :
Relevant work experience within real estate industry.
Able to manage accounting processes and analyze monthly operating results.
Degree required.
Skilled with Excel and Yardi.

Provide leadership to property managers and accounting/accounts payable team.
