Controller, Sr. Accountant (Construction) Job Opening in San Antonio, Texas - Job Summary:
The Controller or Sr. Accountant will take ownership of the Accounting Department and is responsible for handling accounting functions for all projects. This position requires interface with Operations to collect project forecast data and reporting status to management. This position reports to the Chairman and CEO, or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate.
Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 4:00pm.
Organizes and manages client assignments, tax returns, financials and projects including the completion of assignment tasks and project components in a timely and on budget manner.
Completes and reviews the work of all accounting, tax and auditing matters.
This position serves as the leader of the Accounting Department.
Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities:
-Construction accounting management
-Track construction costs in job cost system and provide cost to complete reports to construction team and Senior Management
-Ad hoc reporting for Project Management Team
-Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the development properties
-Prepare month end bank reconciliations and make bank deposits as required
-Process accounts receivable and review accounts payable for each respective property
-Prepare and manage general ledger journal entries and cash balances
-Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
-Work with internal and external parties to ensure the accuracy of the data gathered and the accuracy of the output from that data
-Ad hoc responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
-Maintain thorough and complete paper trail, including relevant correspondence, meeting minutes and all construction related filings.
-Prepare closeout documents.
-Communicate effectively and professionally with all interested parties.
-Other responsibilities as assigned by the company Managers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of accounting experience
CPA license preferred
Experience in audit and accounting; including preparation of reviewed and compiled financial statements
Experience in tax
Construction accounting experience!!!!
Excellent written and verbal communication
Bachelors in Accounting/Finance
