Job Description

The Staff Accountant, CPA plays a key role in executing multiple functions within the finance department. Specific responsibilities include assisting with month end closing and financial statement preparation, company and department budgets and forecasts, account reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable processing, invoicing, and payroll processing. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and effectively work with various departments within the company on cross-functional activities.

Education: Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent; CPA required

Experience: 5+ years outside experience; 3+ years CPA experience

Supervisor: Financial Lead

Responsibilities

Accounting Responsibilities:
Preparing and posting monthly journal entries to the General Ledger

Maintaining General Ledger Chart of Accounts and Internal Financial Reporting structures

Processing monthly sales and other local tax returns

Performing Balance Sheet account reconciliations and analyses on a monthly basis

Reconciling bank statements on a monthly basis

Performing month-end close processes and financial statement preparation

Maintain fixed assets and prepare Depreciation Schedules

Budget preparation, review & input of final budgets into financial reporting systems

Interactions with outside audit and income tax preparation firms

Able to handle complex client needs without assistance

Auditing financials for accuracy and ensuring timeliness

Client Responsibilities:
Interaction with clients on issues relating to accounting responsibilities listed above

Reporting to clients on internal control issues

Prepare and run eligibility, census and other reports for 401K or insurance plans

Troubleshooting client financial needs

Qualifications

CPA required; auditing experience helpful

Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills

Highly organized with strong ability to multi-task and prioritize; accuracy and ensure deadlines are met

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Advanced Excel skills

Problem solving and analytical skills

Ability to manage priorities and workflow

Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office and ERP systems (MAS 500 experience a plus)

Familiarity with payroll processing applications

Understanding of general bookkeeping skills and transaction recording, the ability to work with spreadsheets and attention to detail
