The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for oversight of the general accounting and reporting functions. Other tasks including, but not limited to; leading the monthly and year end close process, assistance in monthly financial reporting, general oversight and assistance with the accounts receivable/billing cycle, maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, lead government compliance audits with DCAA/DCMA and system reviews, and other outside audits as required. Possible growth opportunity to oversee AP, payroll processing and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage general accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, and travel expenses
Lead the monthly and year end close process including financial reporting
Perform month end analysis of financial results and investigate variances
Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
Perform indirect rate calculations and variance analysis
Provide financial interpretation, analysis, support and monitor costs/charges for appropriateness, accuracy and compliance as it relates to government standards rules and regulations
Assist in managing external financial statement and regulatory audits
Lead and manage semi-monthly payroll process
Continually improve current processes to gain efficiencies
Perform other related duties as directed by the Controller
Supervise payroll, AP and GL staff
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor/Master?s Degree in Accounting or Finance
5-10 years of relevant experience
Solid understanding of GAAP, FAR
Government contract accounting experience a plus
SCA experience a plus
Project accounting system experience required
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, with advanced expertise in MS Excel
Public accounting experience and certification
Able to work independently, but also effectively as part of a team
Proactive approach to problem solving
Ability to meet and enforce deadlines
Detail Orientation, but also able to appreciate the bigger picture
