Research Assistant Job Opening in Columbia, Maryland - Job purpose :
The primary purpose of the Research Assistant (RA) position is to support the Project Manager in the day-to-day project operations. Primarily, the RA will be charged with specific activities that contribute to client deliverables.
Processes, enters, organizes and updates institutional (managed care) and survey research data for research studies and other projects. Organizes research files. Performs telephone interviews and surveys. Prepares graphs and tables in excel or other software as appropriate. Prepares survey questionnaires. Other activities include populating results tables, conducting literature research using Web-based tools, and reading and summarizing research articles. Good computer and communications skills are essential as are attention to details and good work organization skills. The RA reports directly to the Project Manager for content and scientific procedure related issues and to the Operations Director for all administrative matters.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Enter, manage, and manipulate data using spreadsheets
Assist with development of research reports
Conduct Web-based tools and other means to search for relevant information
Assist PM in day-to-day operations
Participate in project-specific and company-wide meetings
Present an appropriately professional image; communicate clearly, concisely and diplomatically
Demonstrate efficiency, productivity, attention to detail, strong organizational skills and accuracy
Strong written and oral communication skills
Pro-active, resourceful, and self-directed
Other company activities as needed
COMPETENCY
Computer competency: MS Office Products
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to carry out assignments with guidance
Attention to detail and a strong appreciation for accuracy
Familiarity with healthcare or life-science research, healthcare systems and business issues
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
:
degree in physical or natural science, public health, health education, or other health/science discipline; supplemented with a strong interest in research
Bachelors degree plus 1 year relevant experience
Associates plus 3 years relevant experience
