Certified Recovery Peer Specialist- Family Job Opening in Plantation, Florida - Position Summary: The Certified Recovery Peer Specialist with a Family endorsement from the Florida Certification Board (CRPS-F) is an individual who identifies as the parent, guardian, or primary caregiver of a child/youth who is in recovery from a serious mental health and/or co-occurring substance use diagnosis. The CRPS-F uses their lived experience and specialized training to provide peer-delivered recovery support services to families of youth receiving behavioral healthcare services. The CRPS-F works with families in all stages of recovery by providing advocacy, education, emotional support, mentoring, monitoring, and motivation to assist families with developing the skills, relationships, and resources needed to define, achieve, and sustain recovery. Additionally, the CRPS-F works collaboratively with families, their natural supports, and the interacting child serving agencies (child welfare, educational, health, juvenile justice, Medicaid, mental health, etc.) to assist families with actively participating in self-directed care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be the parent/guardian or primary caregiver of a child/youth in recovery from a significant mental health and/or co-occurring substance use condition and who has been the recipient of behavioral healthcare services.
Must hold certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist through the Florida Certification Board with the family endorsement (CRPS-F) or be in the process of becoming certified through the Florida Certification Board at the time of hire. Candidates with both Adult (CRPS / CRPS-A) and Family (CRPS-F) endorsements preferred. Learn more about certification by visiting the Florida Certification Board Website.
Must be adept in the concepts of recovery with training in Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Whole Health Action Management (WHAM) and/or Peer Support Whole Health & Resiliency.
Possess the ability to work with diverse families while appreciating their differences, identifying strengths, and delivering culturally sensitive services
Possess a good sense of professional boundaries with self-disclosure and developing positive peer-based working relationships.
Experience navigating Broward County?s child and family serving agencies.
Have proven oral and written communication skills with experience in negotiation and conflict resolution.
Be detail oriented to produce complex progress notes documenting progress, goals, outcomes, and other general reporting as required.
Flexible schedule to include evening and weekend availability as necessary
Minimum 1-year related experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Possess a valid driver?s license with access to reliable transportation
Pass pre-employment drug screening, a criminal background check, and be eligible to drive a company vehicle
Wages: $14.00 to $16.00 per hour
