Payroll and Benefits Specialist Job Opening in Westbrook, Maine - New Communities seeks an experienced, dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as a Payroll and Benefits Specialist within our Human Resources team to process payroll and provide general benefit program administration support. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will maintain and enforce current payroll practices and policies and look for innovative ways to improve the current processes.

Working in a creative and fast-paced environment, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will need to have the ability to audit the accurate and timely pay data processing and will also assist the Human Resources department in benefits administration.
Among others, your Payroll and Benefits Specialist responsibilities will include the following:
Processing biweekly payroll using Paylocity
Administering pay practices, time and attendance policies and PTO plans
Balancing payroll deductions, preparing bi-weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports, and responding to employee payroll-related questions * Interfacing with accounting on reconciliation of accounts* Administering the employee benefit plans including medical, health savings accounts, dental, life insurance and retirement plans
Performing benefit orientations, assisting employees with enrollments, updating participant information on carrier websites, administering monthly invoices
Providing analytic support, and collaborating in the development of business processes (onboarding, open enrollment, life events, merit, etc.)
Preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for local, state and federal agencies Collaborating with human resource team members to provide quality service to business partners, employees and plan participants
Maintaining employee records ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
Working with employees at all levels of the organization and communicating complex financial or qualitative material based on the audience
Developing and maintaining a good working relationship with managers, supervisors and employees so as to create a level of confidence and trust
Responding to audit requests
Payroll and Benefits Specialist Requirements: The successful candidate will excel at operating in a diverse and fluid environment, is a self-starter and team player and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal Payroll and Benefits Specialist candidate possesses:
Bachelor?s degree from an accredited institution in a related field (preferably Accounting and/or Finance) or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience performing duties similar to those listed above
2+ years? experience processing payroll using Paylocity
2+ years? experience in benefits administration
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in high-pressure situations
A solid understanding of federal and state laws and regulations as applicable to payroll and benefits administration
Exceptional attention to detail
The ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
The ability to work independently and display initiative
