Executive Director of Laulima Data Alliance Job Opening in Honolulu, Hawaii - GENERAL SUMMARY
The position of Executive Director requires a working knowledge of current hospital finance issues, health policy, and data. Monitors, analyzes, and recommends policy, and advocates on finance issues affecting Hawaii hospitals and health systems through both the legislative and administrative processes. This position is responsible for researching and analyzing a variety of complex hospital data to develop meaningful and easily understandable information that proactively supports and influences HAH?s and its members? state and federal advocacy work as well as community in their efforts to improve access and the quality of care provided. In addition, this position requires overseeing the administration of Laulima?s operations and works with the Board to fulfill the organization?s mission.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Master?s degree with emphasis in finance, health policy, MIS or healthcare administration (Phd preferred).
Minimum of five years of experience in health care finance/policy issues.
Thorough working knowledge of the publicly available health care data sets including but not limited to: Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) discharge data and hospital financial and utilization data, and National Health Expenditure (NHE) files.
Understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
Strong understanding of health care utilization and data.
Budget and management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.

Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.

Expert proficiency with PC-based software using advanced features of MS Office applications.

MAJOR DUTIES AND TASKS
Maintains effective relationships with staff and key stakeholders.
Oversee Board and committee meetings.
Planning and operation of annual budget.
Supervise, collaborate with organization staff.
Serve as the primary spokesperson to the organization?s constituents.
Provides input on state and federal administrative and regulatory issues related to health care finance and utilization.
Partners with member hospitals to understand information needs and work proactively to analyze and communicate findings and trends, translating technical information into easily understandable advocacy messages.
Represents LAULIMA with state agencies where hospital finance and/or technical knowledge is necessary.
Provides technical and operational assistance to LAULIMA members when appropriate.
Arranges educational programs regarding state health issues related to utilization to provide guidance to members.
Designs and produces clear and concise analytical reports that are able to convey messages to multiple audiences.
Assist members in maximizing IPOP and Dimensions data tools.
Seek opportunities to expand database to include other provider types.
Seek opportunities to grow the membership base and revenues through promotion of Laulima?s services to providers and businesses in Hawaii.
Other duties/projects as assigned by LAULIMA Board of Directors.
