Resident Services Director Job Opening in Las Vegas, Nevada - PURPOSE
The Resident Services Director provides oversight of all resident healthcare services, ensuring the needs of the residents are being met at all times. They are also responsible for supervision and training of the Healthcare Services Department and for the overall medication delivery system.
The Resident Services Director will provide functional support for all departments in the absence of the Administrator. They will also provide delegation for all nursing functions within the Community. The Resident Services Director will set the appropriate standards for the Healthcare Services Department and provide supervision for the Healthcare Services staff while maintaining high resident satisfaction and quality resident care and services in accordance with regulatory standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in Long Term Care Community in Las Vegas, NV
Makes trips out into local community to assess new residents for admission, perform marketing duties, attend meetings and trainings and other trips associated with the operation of the Community
Makes occasional trips involving overnight travel (5%)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (with or without reasonable accommodation)
Ability to walk, reach and bend comfortable and frequently while moving through the Community
Ability to sit or stand comfortably for extended periods, with appropriate breaks
Ability to push wheelchairs, ambulate residents and lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds routinely and up to 40 pounds occasionally
Possesses fine hand coordination, visual acuity and memory for detail
Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two (2) years of college; and
At least three (3) years of experience in marketing and sales; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS
Maintain current R.N. licensing with the State Board of Nursing and minimum of three (3) years prior nursing experience, preferably with the senior population
Maintains current Driver?s License and demonstrates safe driving skills whenever in the service of the Community, whether operating a Community vehicle or one?s own
Willing to submit to and pass the following prior to receiving authorization to drive any Community vehicle:
Mandatory criminal background check
Review of prior driving record
Meets and maintains all requirements of the Community?s vehicle insurer
Drug and alcohol screening
Ability to pass criminal background check and drug test as a condition of employment, regardless of operating a motor vehicle
CPR and First Aid certified

ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities ( with or without accommodation)
Assumes the authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the Healthcare Services Department
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs all resident healthcare services and nursing policies and standards based on a thorough knowledge of current governing rules and regulations
Completes a pre-admission assessment on all resident applicants
Reviews resident Care Plans at least monthly and provides a Service Plan conference not less than quarterly for all residents
Reviews Service Plans to ensure that goals, concerns and services are being addressed in a manner which is acceptable to the resident or his or her representative and is in keeping with the Community?s policy and procedures
Provides documentation of resident services and response, changes in resident condition and Service Plan changes in accordance with established policy and procedure
Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental staff members and Department Heads, as well as other agencies and businesses within the local community to ensure the Community?s services and activities are properly maintained so the needs of the residents are met at all times
Ensures Community staff members, residents, family members, guests, and visitors follow the established policies and procedures, including adherence to safety rules and regulations, at all times
Clarifies departmental policies and procedures for residents, family members, guests, and visitors as needed to maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm, home-like environment throughout the Community
Assists in setting objectives for the Health Services Department and standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished to set and assure the quality care of the residents and the morale of the staff
Trains all Healthcare Services staff members, including private duty caregivers, on established Community policies, procedures and philosophy, ensuring adherence to same
Reinforces departmental policies and procedures with Healthcare Services staff members providing appropriate and consistent counseling and disciplinary action, when necessary, for staff should infractions occur
Hires, reviews and evaluates assigned staff members and makes recommendations to the Administrator
Meets with staff members on a regularly scheduled basis, but at least annually, to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, focusing on the improvement of services
Reviews complaints and grievances from staff members, residents and their families, taking steps to address the issue or clarify the situation for the individual making necessary reports to the Administrator
Communicates departmental status to Administrator on a regular basis ensuring he or she is fully aware at all times of any potential issues so they can coordinate a proactive response.
Plans and executes in-service trainings specific to Healthcare Services Department, as needed per regulations and as scheduled on annual In-Service Calendar including, but not limited to: Safe Resident Handling, Hands-on Transfer Training and Infection Control
Coordinates regularly scheduled vital sign monitoring (temperature, heart rate and blood pressure) for residents who either require or request it
Oversees stock of medications, medical supplies and equipment to ensure an adequate level at all times; oversees ordering of equipment and supply needs as required in accordance with department budget and Community policies
Ensures medication system and resident health records are used appropriately, accurately and confidentially
Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the physician
Provides nurse delegation per State regulations and as established by Community policy and procedures
Monitors the Medication Room, Chart Room, Nurses Stations and the equipment and supplies within to ensure staff members are maintaining these areas in a clean and safe manner and are prepared to perform the duties and services required for resident care, comfort and convenience
Works with the consulting pharmacy to promote an optimal medication regime for each resident
Schedules pharmacy in-services to maintain education on medication management for Medication Aides
Receives verbal orders from physicians, physician?s assistants and nurse practitioners and charts on the physician?s order sheet
Transcribes new physician orders to the resident chart, medication cards, Service Plan , and related documentation for the given resident to ensure they remain current
Communicates new diet orders to the Dining Services Director and discusses them with the resident
Notifies resident?s physician, as well as family members or personal representatives, should the resident become acutely ill, injured, or has a sudden change of condition, as directed by Community policy
Coordinates with physicians, physician?s assistants or nurse practitioners through regularly scheduled review of resident Service Plans and physician orders
Works with Community consultants to assess and implement recommended programs
Plans, communicates and coordinates with all providers, medical and other, concerning the healthcare needs of the residents as needed or requested
Evaluates medical emergencies, determines the appropriate response and directs staff to address and manage the situation including notifying physician and recording and documenting orders
Contacts the funeral home as indicated in the resident information and as outlined in the Community?s policy and procedures for deceased residents
Makes independent decisions regarding resident healthcare and assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished to assure the quality care of the residents and the morale of the staff
Completes incident reports for residents when appropriate, notifying physicians and designated representative per resident preferences. Assesses the need for a Managed Risk Agreement and makes recommendations to the Administrator.
Keeps current in area of expertise by attending and participating in professional association activities and programs; demonstrates current knowledge of regulations and guidelines as well as professional standards, and makes recommendations regarding policy and procedures to the Administrator based on that knowledge
Completes necessary documentation for resident move-ins, move-outs, transfers and service changes, filing it in the resident?s chart or forwarding to the appropriate department in a timely manner
Provides departmental orientation for new residents and their families as well as new staff members
Maintains a multi-disciplinary approach to resident services
Utilizes creative approaches in resolving resident or personal care issues that involve the resident and their appointed representatives in positive ways
Steps in as acting Administrator as needed or required
Participate in Department Head meetings.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains current knowledge of regulations affecting resident care

Possesses strong marketing skills
Reports all incidents and injuries to supervisor immediately, whether to self or witnessed incidents and injuries to residents, employees or visitors
Attends and participates in training, in-services and staff meetings
