ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
DEPARTMENT: Accounting & Finance
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance, Corporate Director of Finance, and Corporate Operations Controller

SUMMARY
Assist in supervising and directing financial activities of the hotel, safeguard assets, and prepare all financial reports in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Administer Finance Department.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
Review all ledger account reconciliations to include: bank statements, assets, liabilities, and credit cards.
Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Prepare monthly journal entries.
Administer bank downloads and transfers.
Coordinate and review monthly financial statements for accuracy. Monitor coding of cash receipts and all other G/L transactions.
Maintain accurate records of all contracts, licenses and permits ensuring all are current and compliant to Corporate standards.
Assist with monthly forecast preparation and with annual budget preparation.
Direct, train and supervise performance of finance staff including maintenance of payroll records. Perform their duties in their absence.
Direct the monthly closing process to be completed within established guidelines.
Prepare tax returns to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Prepare monthly accruals including utilities and telephone accruals.
Monitor records of inventory to control accuracy of supply distribution. Act as liaison to all operating departments.
Maintain audit compliance with hotel and corporate standards on monthly basis
Assist Director of Finance in internal daily audits of cash deposits and transfers.
Ensure compliance with hotel and corporate policies and procedures.*SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS*
In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the candidate is expected to complete the following duties:
In absence of Director of Finance attend departmental meetings to keep appraised of operations and to provide outside input.*ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS*

Ability to compute complex mathematical calculations.*REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE*
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college program is required. Must have experience working with Microsoft Excel and common hotel technology systems (OPERA, MICROS, etc.). Minimum 12 months of management experience at a mid-sized hotel is required.
