Accountant Job Opening in Austin, Texas - TMLT is seeking an accountant. The primary purpose of this position is to support to the investment accounting and general ledger accounting for multiple entities.
As an accountant you will focus on the following duties:
Prepares journal entries to support monthly close of multiple entities. Prepares and assists in the maintenance of accounting documentation and ensures proper accounting of general ledger transactions.
Prepares monthly account reconciliations and supporting analysis schedules.
Creates investment journal entries and adjustments for general ledger.
Prepares statutory investment schedules including Schedule D, Schedule BA, & Schedule DA.
Prepares monthly investment account analysis and reconciliation.
Assists in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements prepared on the STAT & GAAP bases.
Produces statutory and GAAP related financial information and supports as required, including the Insurance Expense Exhibit, annual Risk Based Capital reporting, and participates in Schedule P reporting and analysis.
Prepares required compliance reports and filings for multiple entities.
Assists in the maintenance of internal controls and the accounting system.
Assists in the preparation of reinsurance reports and data provided to actuaries.
Participates in audits for insurance company financial statements for outside regulatory authorities.
Prepares and analyzes monthly journal entries and reports.
Ensures financial statement compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, company policies and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
Advanced-level experience using Excel, including the ability to create macros and working with pivot tables and look-ups.
Proficiency in the use of database tools and financial reporting packages.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles preferred.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Bachelor?s degree in accounting.
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, or equivalent.
CPA designation preferred.
Experience in insurance environment and investment accounting preferred.
