Summary:
Designs, develops and implements web-based Java applications to support business requirements, leads a team of 2-3 developers, follows approved life cycle methodologies (including Agile), creates design documents, performs program coding and testing, resolves technical issues through debugging, research and investigation.
Role and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintains various in-house tools
Lead a small team of Java and PHP developers
Interact with users globally to understand business requirements so that the development team can develop new features and technical specifications
Create documentation (like functional specifications, API specifications, test plans, migration/release guides and user guides) and on occasion, conduct application training for users
Perform application support, testing and trouble shooting
Evaluate and propose new software products and assist on IT project implementations
Coordinate with internal support team to formulate requirements and follow up with external vendors to coordinate upgrades or support off the shelf or customized software
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Vendor management
Experience /Qualifications:
Undergraduate Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline required
7-8 years of development experience in any language a must
At least 5 years of solid Java experience required
Development experience in PHP or a good understanding of it highly desirable
Familiarity with Java/J2EE, XML, Struts and Hibernate
Experience with AJAX and advanced JavaScript techniques will be beneficial to successful candidate
Experience in database development required
Oracle experience desired
Experience with data schemas and relational databases
Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work independently
Ability to analyze, develop and debug code a must
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven creative, analytical, and detail-oriented abilities
