Director of Software Development

Phoenix, Arizona

Director of Software Development Job Opening in Phoenix, Arizona - Are you a natural-born leader?a great manager, team-builder, recruiter, communicator, and issue-resolver? Are you passionate about software development?so much so, that you?ve fostered and supported cultures of innovation and excellence in every dev team you?ve led? If so, we want to hear from you. We?re currently on the hunt for a Director of Software Development: someone who will not only help ensure that we have the best talent in place (and in our pipeline), but also pave the way for our team?s success by removing obstacles and barriers with ease. To be successful in this role, you?ll need to strike the perfect balance between managing the now (ensuring timely product delivery) and steering us into the future. You?ll also be responsible for establishing?and communicating?roles, responsibilities, performance measures, and processes.
At WebPT, we hire the most talented people for our teams, and then give them the freedom to do their jobs. Here, we work hard?but we have lots of fun doing it. So, if you like a cool, collaborative, and challenging work environment, you?ll fit right in.
Responsibilities
Oversee the successful development and delivery of WebPT?s product and platform.
Recruit and hire uber-talented development staff.
Motivate your team?and provide technical direction, guidance, leadership, and hands-on project management.
Serve as both a manager and a support resource/mentor.
Be a key member of the Engineering leadership team?one who sets the department?s strategic direction for product development activities.
Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the development department.
Ensure the department achieves its objectives and completes all projects within budget and on time.
Abilities and Knowledge
Be a modern-day cartographer, which in our world means you have a knack for not only building application and architectural roadmaps, but also planning and estimating.
Have an agile mind and a mind for Agile; we want someone who knows Agile software development methodology (as well as Scrum, Lean, and Kanban). You should also have a solid grasp of software development lifecycles and modern architectures such as MicroServices and AWS.
Be organized, ahead of schedule, communicative, and accountable?in short, own your role entirely, while being open to critiques, suggestions, and new ideas.
Love a good puzzle. You?ll need to think critically?and analytically?on a daily basis, especially when it comes to optimizing SDLC team operations and execution, project management, process improvement, and project plan development and status reporting.
Be a skilled teacher?and coach. We?re looking for someone who can not only explain technical concepts to non-technical associates, but also team build and mentor like no one?s business. After all, collaboration and team alignment will be essential to your success.
Be a master This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. After all, that?s the only way you?re going to be able to successfully handle vendor management and offshore strategies.
Be flexible. This role is ever-evolving?just like WebPT?so while you don?t need to be Cirque du Soleil bendy, we may occasionally ask you to do a few cartwheels, or at least try some things outside of your wheelhouse.
Jibe with our company culture. We?re talkin? energy, integrity, positivity, a hunger for knowledge, and a passion for development. Bring all that and a bag of chips. Seriously, we love chips.
