Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of various electrical and electromechanical systems for the metal processing and metalworking industries including steel, aluminum, and copper production facilities. This position offers the opportunity to work in a variety of areas including system design, machine condition monitoring, acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and software development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Designs electrical systems (and some software) for equipment used in the metals industry.
Works closely with customer to determine requirements.
Works with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
Develops test and inspection methods/procedures for various types of equipment.
Performs machine-based condition monitoring on equipment utilizing various sensors and data acquisition systems, analyzes data, and reports on findings to external and internal customers.
Works on the assembly of electrical components including wiring control panels, soldering, assembling cables, etc.
Works in our facilities and at our customers? sites for installations, startups, field servicing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Writes technical documentation including reports and user manuals.
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
Some travel is required .
Job Qualifications
Associates degree in EE/EET OR Bachelors degree in EE/EET.
Strong machine design and troubleshooting skills.
CAD, HMI, PLC, AC/DC, Motor/Variable Frequency Drive experience.
Familiar with PLC and HMI programming. Exposure to C#, VBA programming languages is a plus.
Experience with AutoCAD. AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
MS Office software knowledge is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work well both independently and within a group consisting of various backgrounds and disciplines.
Possess the desire to be in a ?hands-on? role and an imaginative, resourceful approach to problem solving.
