FT Auditor / Red Wing Job Opening in Red Wing, Minnesota - Smith Schafer, a multi-office accounting & consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, experienced accountant to service the needs in our audit department. This position will be based out of our Red Wing, Minn. branch. The successful candidate in this position will execute the day-to-day activities of audit and review engagement of various clients, including governmental audits.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
Plan, lead and facilitate engagements for audits to meet budget and client expectations.
Serve clients in a high impact manner, demonstrating command of their major area of specialization.
Demonstrate technical skills, general industry knowledge and knowledge of the firm?s capabilities.
Review all work papers, reports, financial statement drafts and letters of recommendations to ensure they are prepared in accordance with firm and professional standards.
Evaluate clients' internal controls and determine the extent of test-checking required in the audit.
Strengthen existing client relationships by communicating with them throughout the year and advising on all concerns and relevant industry pronouncements.
Develop new business opportunities by participating in strategic business development initiatives, relevant organizations, attending networking and professional development events, and leading educational programs.
Understand the firm?s financial model and ensure profitable delivery of engagements.
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting.
CPA certification preferred; Two (2) or more busy seasons of experience gained by working in external audit in public accounting
Plan, coordinate and manage audits in compliance with applicable GAAS, GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Prior experience with non-profits and governmental audits (including single audits)
Familiarity with ProSystem fx Engagement is preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of financial statement preparation, audits, reviews and compilations.
Advanced knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat).
Demonstrated track record of developing positive client relationships.
High level of organization, focus, exceptional attention to detail and strong follow-up skills.
Superior communication and proofreading skills.
Customer-service oriented, shown by the following attributes: proactive, observant, knowledgeable and reliable.
Professional demeanor and appearance necessary at all times.
Abilities:
Apply independent thought process and work on special projects such as research and drafting documents.
Manage multiple engagements in a fast paced environment.
Prioritize workflow and manage multiple deadlines within required time constraints.
Work efficiently and have flexibility to changes in schedule and work hours during ?busy season.?
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Work in team environment with principals, managers and staff; Perform effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel supporting various industries.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods of time, as well as type/enter data at a keyboard regularly.
Travel to client sites. Note: Travel is local and typically same day travel.
